Two renowned guitar trios are joining forces.

On Thursday (Jan.17), the California Guitar Trio and Montreal Guitar Trio will be coming together at the Shell Theatre to perform songs from legendary groups such as Queen, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Rush.

"You're going to recognize these songs of course, but it's also that they're played a little bit differently. It's not going to be a full out rock band, it's literally six guitars on stage," explained Shell Theatre supervisor Josh Gennings.

California Guitar Trio has been playing together since 1991  they have released 16 albums, performed 1,800 shows and gained more than 65 million streams online.

Likewise, Montreal Guitar Trio has been described as the "hottest" guitar ensemble in Canada. The group has been together for over 20 years and have performed hundreds of shows across the globe.

"When these content musicians with this caliber of performance work together, it's magic onstage," added Gennings.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be bought online or at the door.

Next for the Shell Theatre, the Alberta Opera will be performing Pinocchio on Sunday (Jan.20).
