It was another successful Community Christmas.

The fifth annual event at Station Square Co-op raised money, food and toys for the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank's Christmas hampers.

$7,770 in donations were received ($4,885 through the food bank table, $2855 through Station Square Co-op). Three bins for collecting food and toys also had to be emptied after the first day to make room for more donations.

"It's really helped us to get a good start to this Christmas season," said food bank president Marlene Leroux.

Last year the food bank gave out around 195 hampers. Included in those hampers are fixings for a Christmas dinner, non-perishable food items and toys for the kids.

"I was very happy with it this year. Just the support from the community was phenomenal."

Community Christmas took place on Nov.29 and 30. MIX 107 was live-on-location for both days.
