A local girl is making history.

Sherwood Park's Beccy Stables is the youngest home cook competitor ever on MasterChef Canada.

After not being able to afford culinary school, Stables had to put her food dreams on hold.

“I’m only 19, so I’m not stuck in my ways yet,” said Stables. “I don’t even have ways yet.”

The reserved and sometimes shy teenager is now focused on the $100,000 MasterChef Canada grand prize.

Originally from Grimsby, UK, the tile setter assistant was the first in her family to earn a high school diploma.

Stables wowed the judges in the audition with her signature dish beef tenderloin with roasted beetroot and blackberry sauce. She is currently in the top 12.

MasterChef Canada is in their 5th season. The next episode airs on Apr.10.

You can keep up with her work on Instagram @beccystables.
