The annual Lite Up the Nite Festival in Morinville will be missing a key piece this year.
Event organizers have cancelled the firework display due to safety concerns.
"Upon review of our fireworks from Canada Day we looked at a few different things and realized that we can't find a location that's safe and secure at this time to have the display," said Felicity Bergman from the Town of Morinville.
With the construction of the Morinville Community Recreation Facility just east of Morinville limits, organizers are investigating the site for fireworks in the future.
An outdoor concert by Krissy Feniak has been scheduled instead.
"She sings a variety of songs, country music, covers, originals and she'll be performing a number of Christmas songs as well for the celebration."
Feniak will perform Saturday (Nov.24) evening following the parade.
The festival runs November 23-25.
