Generally, someone representing a paving company will offer a paving job at a reduced rate. Usually the worker says they have extra material they'd like to use. The paving is either completed using a low-grade product or not at all. Many times the work will start to deteriorate quickly and any attempt to locate the paving company or rep are unsuccessful.
This specific type of scam usually pops up in late spring or early summer. It's most common for rural residences.
RCMP are reminding residents to ensure any contract work is done with a reputable businesses. This may include doing some online research and checking references.
