Shots were fired following a home invasion and police chase in Strathcona County.
On Sunday (October 8) at 4:43 a.m., the RCMP responded to a call of a home invasion in the rural Vegreville area.
About 45 minutes later, police found the suspect’s vehicle in Strathcona County and tried to do a traffic stop. The suspect’s vehicle refused to stop, but was disabled using a tire deflation device. The vehicle then rammed two police cars.
During the course of the event, a police officer discharged their firearm.
Two suspects have been taken into custody, officers were looking for a third, but investigators say only two were involved.
None of the suspects or officers were injured.
Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is continuing the investigation.
