RCMP continue to remind residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables.
The Strathcona County RCMP have received 179 theft from vehicle reports from June 1 to August 17.
Police say most vehicle crime is opportunistic and therefore preventable.
"Keeping your vehicles locked, even in your driveway, while unattended is a first step toward protecting yourself from becoming a victim of theft," said Constable Chantelle Kelly of the Strathcona County RCMP. “The second step is to never leave anything of value in your vehicle. It's unfortunate but often these types of crimes occur when suspects can easily see items inside your vehicle."
According to online reports, the Fort has also seen its share of vehicle break and enters this summer.
Other prevention tips include not leaving valuables in your vehicle overnight and loose change in plain sight.
If anyone see any suspicious activity around their vehicle, report it to police.
