The Morinville RCMP have laid charges after a couple home invasions this summer.

Following a lengthy investigation, two men were arrested and a third person is still on the loose.

On July 5, police responded to a break and enter in Morinville. Less than a week later (July 11), three masked men invaded a home in Morinville, robbing the homeowner of cash and other valuables.

Elia Zahara, 18, of Edmonton was arrested and is facing 19 charges, including several firearm offences.

A 20-year-old man from Edmonton was also arrested and faces eight charges, including wearing a disguise to commit robbery.

The unnamed man is scheduled to appear in Morinville Provincial Court on January 11.

A third suspect remains unidentified, he's described as a black man with dreadlocks.

“The RCMP remains committed to conducting thorough and diligent investigations, oftentimes accessing several support units,” said Sergeant Dale Kendall, acting Detachment Commander of the Morinville RCMP. “We don’t always see immediate arrests following reported crimes, but always know that we will investigate all aspects of the crimes reported.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Morinville RCMP at 1 (780) 939-4550 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
