Average gasoline prices in the capital region have fallen 2.2 cents per litre in the past week according to GasBuddy.
The average price in the Fort is right around that 97.9 cents per litre.
"With a little over two weeks remaining in the summer driving season, it’s do or die time for refiners who may be looking at uncomfortable levels of summer blend stockpiles," said Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.
Last year, on this day gas prices in the region were at 88.27 cents per litre.
"While oil inventories have dropped in the U.S., it's unclear that the trend will continue given refineries will begin to look at fall maintenance, thus reducing the demand that helped reduce oil stocks," added McTeague.
Gas stations must use a summer gas blend until the middle of September, to comply with heat regulations.
