The returning officer in Sturgeon County has called for a recount in Division 3.
It comes after an extremely close race between incumbent Wayne Bokenfohr and Ken McGillis.
Once the ballots were counted Monday night (October 16), Bokenfohr won with 366 votes, while McGillis had 361. The third contender, Matthew McLennan, had 278.
Rejected ballots, once counted, brought the vote to a tie.
Under the Local Authorities Election Act, an application for a recount must be made within 44 hours, immediately following the closing of the voting stations.
In Sturgeon County's closely contested election, Tom Flynn was ousted from the mayor's chair by Alanna Hnatiw.
