More police will be out and about in the local area.

For the remaining summer months, residents of Legal and the surrounding Sturgeon County area will see an increase in traffic enforcement. The Morinville RCMP will be assigned the duty.

"Speeding was one of the problems that was brought to our attention by the town so we wanted to increase our efforts for visibility in enforcement," said RCMP Corporal Sheldon Robb. "We'd rather have people obey laws, rather than issue tickets."

The main focus will be intersection safety, speeding and distracted driving. Mounties say other non-compliances such as no seatbelts will not be ignored.

Highway 651 near Legal will be a main focus as police have noticed high rates of speed in the area.
