Some recent fires in Sturgeon County put families out of their homes.
On Mar.23, the Sturgeon County fire department received a call at around 1:30 p.m. about a house fire. The department, along with crews from Gibbons, Bon Accord, Namao and Redwater responded.
"We had made entry into the home, but it was up in the roof attic area and, unfortunately, we weren't able to contain it," said Sturgeon County fire chief Pat Mahoney.
While the fire's origin was classified as undetermined, the department suspects it involved an electrical issue.
"We believe that with the wind and weight, (the overhead power lines) arced on the roof and caused the ignition."
No one was injured in the fire, but the house was ruled a total loss.
A trust fund was allegedly set up for the family that people can donate to at any Servus Credit Union.
Another fire in the area occurred on Feb.10, with the house also being ruled as a loss.
