Sturgeon County's manager, Peter Tarnawsky, has had his contract ended by council.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) will be leaving the position on December 5 after an award-winning career with the county.

In a statement, mayor Alanna Hnatiw said, “due to mutual parting of ways, council believes a change in leadership is needed. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The county declined to comment on the reason behind the parting.

Tarnawsky also didn’t to comment.

Council has appointed Rick Wojtkiw as the Acting CAO until a permanent replacement for Tarnawsky is found.

Wojtkiw is currently the general manager of Corporate Support for Sturgeon County.

Due to Tarnawsky's departure, budget meetings scheduled for this week are being postponed until further notice.
