Strathcona County councillor Vic Bidzinski passed away early this morning.
 
Bidzinski has been the representative for Ward 1 in the county for 20 years.
 
“It is with great sadness that we learned councillor Vic Bidzinski passed away early this morning. Our thoughts are with his wife of 50 years, Susan and family. Strathcona County extends our condolences and prayers to them during this difficult time," said Strathcona County mayor Roxanne Carr.
 
The councillor was elected to in 1992, he represented Ward 1 for three terms until 2001. He was elected again in 2007, and then in 2010 and in 2013.
 
Bidzinski was involved with many committees including the Capital Region Board, Beaver Hills Initiative and the River Valley Alliance. He also served with many different organizations including the Sherwood Park and Alberta Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club of Sherwood Park and the Strathcona Community Hospital Foundation.
 
"I respected his passion and commitment to our county and citizens. Our friend and colleague will be greatly missed,” concluded Carr.
