An 11-year-old boy was hit in a crosswalk on Thursday morning (September 28).
The boy was struck by a vehicle driving eastbound on Cranberry Drive near Deacon Lane in Sherwood Park, luckily he suffered only minor injuries and was released to a parent on scene.
Police don't believe speed was a factor in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
If a vehicle fails to stop, or allow a pedestrian to use a crosswalk, the ticket is $155. Failing to yield to a pedestrian who's already in a crosswalk is a $776 fine with four demerits.
