A special weather statement has been issued for the surrounding area.
Environment Canada says a snow storm could hit Fort Saskatchewan and much of Sturgeon County, Strathcona County and Lamont County on Wednesday night (Sept.12).
Current indications are that somewhere between 5 and 10 cm of heavy, wet snow will fall. Some areas could get more than 10 cm. The snow or rain could continue into Thursday morning.
There is a risk of tree branches breaking from the heavy snowfall, driving conditions are also a concern.
