A few more food joints or gas stations could pop up in the Fort.
Fort Saskatchewan council gave a first reading to change the Land Use Bylaw to redistrict part of the SouthPointe neighbourhood from urban reserve to director control.
"Redistricting for a commercial site in the Southfort area structure plan, which is adjacent to Sienna, Stantec Consulting on behalf of the developer has applied for redistricting and it's a direct control district so it will allow the development of that commercial site a little larger than it would be the case if it were a typical commercial site," said councillor Gordon Harris.
This will make it possible for gas stations, convenience stores, fast food chains and professional services to be developed in that area.
A public hearing will take place on Tuesday (Apr.24) at city hall.
