A local has been charged with child pornography-related offences.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at a home in central Sherwood Park on Tuesday (August 29). 32-year-old Adam Downing has been charged with possessing child pornography and making child pornography available.

ALERT said the suspect’s mother runs a dayhome out of the house and there's no evidence offences were committed against any of the children.

No children were at the dayhome when the search warrant was executed.

The investigating began in July, after the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children passed along information to Canadian authorities about someone uploading child pornography to social media.

Investigators also believe Downing worked as a camp counsellor this past summer at Camp Van-Es at South Cooking Lake.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the local police detachment or report it online at www.cybertip.ca.
