A Sherwood Park doctor’s practice permit has been suspended.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) suspended Dr. Vincenzo Visconti's practice permit on Apr. 20 due to his failure to abide by conditions placed on his practice by the CPSA.

The college previously announced it would suspend Visconti's permit on April 27 following a two-week notice period.

Visconti is barred from seeing patients or practicing medicine pending the outcome of discipline proceedings currently underway.
The college was originally acting under Section 65 of the Health Professions Act. This section grants regulators the ability to suspend a practice permit before a disciplinary decision is reached.

Although no specifics were given, the college says they had "ongoing concerns with his practice."

THE CPSA advises patients to call Health Link (811) for information and assistance in finding another physician.
