A 19-year-old Sherwood Park camp counsellor has been charged with possessing and distributing child pornography.

Police arrested Edward Vukovic earlier this month after the Internet Child Exploitation unit investigated for 11 months.

Over the past year, Vukovic worked as a day camp counsellor at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre.

RCMP said there is no evidence to suggest any offences took place against children who attended the camps.

In a release, Strathcona County said it “takes the safety and care of all its guests seriously.”

All Strathcona County prospective candidates are required to give both criminal records and vulnerable sector checks. Their references are checked.

Vukovic has been released on bail with conditions. His last day of work was July 12.
