Sherritt will be testing their alarms this weekend.
The new sound changes from a horn to a digital ring.
"So this testing, which features these new digital alarms, is a part of Sherritt's ongoing response readiness," said Poonam Madan, senior sustainability advisor at Sherritt's Fort Saskatchewan refinery.
Madan told MIX 107 the tests are mostly for awareness.
"Part of our continuous improvement program is ensuring that we are using the most up-to-date alarms, which are these digital alarms."
Sherritt will be testing between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday (Nov.17) and Sunday.
