A major overhaul to improve the theatre experience in Fort Saskatchewan is almost complete.

The Shell Theatre is receiving a major lighting improvement; replacing all the house lights with LED lights and upgrading the dimming system and control console.

"We want to make sure everything is prim and proper and ready for our upcoming season," said Shell Theatre supervisor Josh Gennings.

The upgrades are all part of two major capital projects that were approved by council last year. The cost is estimated to be $101,000.

"From the moment you walk into the theatre you're going to have a brand new experience and it'll be a great one we hope."

Now that all the new equipment is installed, the theatre is just waiting for everything to be programmed and commissioned.
