Shell Scotford in Fort Saskatchewan was evacuated on Monday (Apr.15).
At around 8:45 a.m., Shell Canada Limited, along with Strathcona County and Fort Saskatchewan Emergency Services, responded to a fire at Shell’s Scotford Upgrader. The site assembly alarm was sounded and personnel were relocated away from the incident as a safety precaution.
Shell Scotford posted online that "everyone is accounted for and no injuries have been reported. The fire has been put out."
No action needs to be taken by community members.
The company's road blocks around the site have been removed and employees have been given the all clear to return to work.
