Fort Saskatchewan and Strathcona County have agreed to extend their shared recreation passes a little longer.

In September, the two councils made an agreement allowing Fort Saskatchewan residents to use Strathcona County recreation facilities and vise versa.

The original deal was intended to go until December 31.

Since Harbour Pool is closed down for maintenance and won't be open until February, the agreement was extended.

"We're very appreciative of this gesture by the county and in the spirit of collaboration, we're really excited to be able to be doing it for another month," said Barb Shuman, Fort Saskatchewan's director of recreation services.

Passes can still be used in both locations until January 31.
