Although school zones aren't in effect for summer, drivers still need to use caution.
In the Fort and surrounding area, most school zones default back to 50 kilometres per hour during the summer. However, it's not always the case.
"Some of the school zones are also designated as playground zones. So the 30 km/h zones are still applicable in certain areas," said RCMP Corporal Sheldon Robb.
Playground zones in Fort Saskatchewan are enforced from 8:30 a.m. until one hour after sunset.
"The common sense thing is to drive safe because you know there will still be kids around there," added Robb.
This upcoming fall, Strathcona County is changing their school zone times.
Regular hours come back into effect on the first day of the 2018-19 school year.
