People can do more than pin poppies to their jackets this Remembrance Day.

This year, the Royal Canadian Legion launched a new fundraising initiative that allows for people to personalize and download an image of the poppy that can be shared on their social media page. There is also an option to dedicate their poppy to a particular person.

"It's a new way to remember the fallen and I don't think it will take away from the traditional way poppies were offered. It's just offers more opportunity for people to donate to the poppy fund for veterans and their families," said Charlene Andrews, Fort Saskatchewan branch manager.

Funds will go directly to the closest branch, based on the address entered when the donation was made.

You can get a digital poppy here.
