Redwater mayor Mel Smith is keeping his seat as mayor for another term.
Smith has a long history of serving the town and wasn't challenged for his role.
"Truthfully, I'm relieved, it's always a stressful time for elected officials," said Smith.
Entering into his fourth term, he also served two terms as a councillor. With his position secured, he's ready to get back to work.
"We still have a number of initiatives on the go and a number of things we have to complete," said Smith. "Probably the first six [to] eight months will be just trying to bring the new council together."
The mayor-elect has received congratulations from regional partners and people in the town - 68 emails, phone messages and counting.
"Thank you for the confidence, residents of Redwater. I will continue to work as hard as I can to better the town and make it a better and more beautiful place to live."
In other Redwater election news, nine people are looking to fill six council chairs.
