The Town of Redwater is reminding residents that taxes don't have to be such a big bill.
The town is just one of hundreds across the province that offer the Tax Installment Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (TIPP).
The plan helps make budgeting for tax time easier.
"This way, their payments are spread out through the whole year, so it's not such a big hit in the middle of the year," explained Redwater CAO, Deb Hamilton.
Residents aren't the only ones that benefit from TIPP.
"There's a benefit to the municipality," said Hamilton. "They have some cash already at the beginning of the year, rather than it all coming in that basic six week period."
Redwater has been offering the provincial program for roughly nine years.
"It's good for us and it's good for them too."
Redwater Town Office is now accepting applications for the 2018 tax year. The deadline to sign up is January 15. Enrollment requires the applicant's tax account to be paid in full as of December 31, 2017.
Other areas offering the program include Fort Saskatchewan, Strathcona County and Sturgeon County.
