Five people have been arrested after an armed robbery in Fort Saskatchewan.

RCMP say a couple of men entered Cambridge Electronics (TELUS dealer in Cornerstone Mall) at around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday and tried to steal a cell phone. An employee "suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries," after confronting the suspects.

A nearby witness noticed the men running into a car and was able to provide police with a license plate. The vehicle was followed by the Fort Saskatchewan and Strathcona County RCMP and stopped without incident.

Charges against the five suspects are still pending.

More to come.
