Fort Saskatchewan has given from the heart once again.
The 5th annual Care from the Heart Day Radiothon took place on Thursday (Mar.8) in the hospital foyer, raising $23,000 for the Karol Mashmeyer Practice Readiness Centre.
"All smiles, all around," said Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital Foundation board member Mike Leblanc. "It's interesting to see some of the usual people that come back year-after-year that make a donation and then chatting with some people making a donation for the first time this year."
The unique training centre allows health care professionals to simulate high-risk situations on advanced mannequins.
A five-year running total is now just under $110,000.
The foundation has other big fundraisers throughout the year including a golf tournament and fall gala.
Major sponsors for the event included Mix 107 and Straightline Chrysler. Others offering support were Fife N Dekel, United Rentals, Robertson’s Plumbing and Gasfitting, Freson Bros. and more.
Donations are still being accepted online.
