A cheque for the amount of $27,890 was presented to the Bruderheim Minor Sports Association on behalf of the provincial government.

The funding will go towards the refurbishment of an upstairs teen activity room at the Karol Maschmeyer Arena.

The arena has received several upgrades through a combination of grants and donations in recent years. Some of the improvements include a new energy-efficient ice plant and a new roof.

"This funding helps to enhance the lifestyle of our community," said Bruderheim town councillor, George Campbell. "(The teen room) will be a place for the teens to go and meet, a place they can call their own. That's very vital to the community."

The upstairs area of the arena also contains the Karol Maschmeyer room, where local hockey memorabilia is on display.
