The provincial government is switching to winter mode.

Energy Efficiency Alberta is offering rebates on outdoor timers for block heaters and Christmas lights, programmable thermostats, as well as many other energy-efficient products.

“Fall and winter are the most energy intensive seasons of the year," explained minister of Environment and Parks Shannon Philips. "We’re making life more affordable for Albertans by offering more opportunities to lower utility bills with a few simple changes around the home.”

The fall campaign runs until October 29 with well over 600 retailers participating, including some home improvement stores here in Fort Saskatchewan.

According to the government, it follows a wildly successful spring campaign that saw objects like low-flow showerheads sales jump 39,665 per cent and LED light sales skyrocket by almost 14,545 per cent.

Online rebates offer up to $100 on eligible products.
