A scary incident in Strathcona County has left a pilot a little shaken up.

On Monday (May 21) around 2 p.m., a seaplane made an emergency landing at the South Cooking Lake Airport after a cabin fire.

The plane was fully engulfed in flames before Strathcona County fire crews stepped in.

"We're thankful that his piloting training kicked in and he got the airplane on the ground quickly before he could have got seriously injured or worse," said former airport president and current volunteer Jim Johannsson.

The pilot escaped with only minor injuries and burns.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
