Fort residents won't have to test their suspension for much longer.

The City and paving contractor have agreed the asphalt job on Highway 21 is not up to par.

"They are coming back to mill out the surface again and re-lay the asphalt," said the city's director of project management, Grant Shaffer.

City officials and the paving company aren't quite sure what went wrong with the asphalt to give residents such a bumpy ride.

"Every once in a while, something will happen in the process, whether it's an issue with compaction or the material itself where things have to get replaced but usually never to the extent that this section needs to have."

No extra costs will be billed to the city, just the original cost of the project will be paid.

There is no timeline of when the work will begin, but Shaffer anticipates some commute disruptions sometime next week.
