Part one of the James Mowat outdoor rink is finished, but more work still has to be done this winter.

On October 23, a suspicious fire burned down a section of the boards and player benches, the rink shack was not affected.

City crews and contractors have been working hard to get the rink ready.
"The board replacement sections have been put back up and our parks department is out making ice," said Grant Schaffer, director of project management for the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
No exact timeline was given for the player benches, but they are expected to be completed sometime this winter.
The estimated cost to rebuild the boards and benches will be around $60,000 (covered by insurance).
