Edmonton Police Service is investigating after a train struck and killed a pedestrian near Clareview LRT station early this morning (May 18).
EPS was notified of the collision just after 1 a.m. The incident happened on the tracks just north of the 137 Avenue overpass when a train traveling from Clareview station hit a male pedestrian.
Police are still working to identify the pedestrian. They say it is not yet clear how he got on the tracks.
The EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit will be reviewing LRT video footage to help in the investigation.
Train service was disrupted for a few hours this morning but has since returned to normal.
Fort Saskatchewan Transit's 580 bus makes numerous trips a day to Clareview LRT station during peak commuting hours.
