A man has died after a two-vehicle collision near Gibbons.

The crash happened Tuesday afternoon (May 1) on Highway 28 between Township Road 564 and Township Road 570, roughly two kilometers north of Gibbons.

RCMP reported that a minivan heading southbound on Highway 28 sideswiped a northbound pickup truck hauling a wood-laden trailer.

The lone male occupant of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Traffic was rerouted until 8 p.m. while Morinville RCMP along with an RCMP collision analyst remained at the scene to investigate.

Alcohol and road conditions do not appear to be factors in the collision.

RCMP are not releasing the name of the deceased.
