The Fort Saskatchewan Food Gatherer's Society received tons of donations over the holiday season.
In total, the food bank was able to supply 200 food hampers to families in the community. They also received over $40,000 in cash donations.
"We always have a lot of support from the community," Marlene LeRoux, board chair of the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank. "We surpassed our goal and whatever funds aren't needed for the Christmas Hamper campaign help us run the food bank for the remainder of the year."
Even with their success over the holidays, the food bank can always use more donations.
"The majority of our donations come at the Christmas season but there is a need all year long," said LeRoux. "Cash donations are very important for us."
Right now, the food bank needs canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, jam, Kraft Dinner and pork and beans, but any non-perishable food items can be donated.
