Fort Saskatchewan City Council agreed to a policy that allows organizations and sports teams to apply for funding.

Council approved the Community Initiated Projects Policy at the Tuesday (Jan.23) meeting.

The city's Recreation Facilities and Parks Master Plan Update (RFPMPU) was formed in December 2015.

“Following that we’ve had the gymnastics club and the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) come forward, which neither one was part of the plan,” said mayor Gale Katchur. “This new policy would actually provide them the tools required to fill out a proper application to get it through the process and work it’s way up through council.”

This policy outlines eligibility, project requirements and a review of applications submitted.

The policy is very similar to another regarding not-for-profits that was given to administration (for more research) that same night.
