Police have made a big decision in a recent investigation.

On the afternoon of Jan.6, an altercation occurred at the Lamont Esso leaving a elderly man seriously injured, he later died in hospital.

The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP have completed their investigation into the incident, determining criminal charges won't be laid.

"This is a tragic accident, but one that could possibly have been prevented. It is a lesson for us all that even a verbal argument can have dire consequences, therefore I urge everyone to be respectful of one another regardless of the dispute. Our hearts go out to the victim's family who have lost someone dear to them," said Mike McCauley, Staff Sergeant and acting detachment commander of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP detachment.

The police investigation has concluded and no further information will be provided.
