Fort Saskatchewan is still planning for a new pool.
At a recent committee of the whole meeting, the city discussed having a new pool in the long-term capital plan.
"The idea behind keeping it in the capital plan is that ensures that the discussion doesn't get lost and that at some point the city can circle back to it," said city manager Troy Fleming.
Last year, almost 52 per cent of residents who voted in the plebiscite said no to the aquatic centre.
"The city definitely is going to respect the voters’ decision, but at the same time there still is a pressing need for aquatics capacity in our community," added Fleming.

A $35-million pool was proposed last fall, that would be attached to the Dow Centennial Centre and have a yearly operating cost of over $4 million.
