There was a recent train derailment in Strathcona County.
Last Tuesday (Jul.10) at around 9:25 p.m., a locomotive and three rail cars derailed at Canadian Pacific Railway’s Clover Bar yard in Strathcona County.
No spills, leaks or injuries were reported, but neither was much information. Strathcona County Emergency Services deputy fire chief Devin Capcara said they were left out of the loop.
"We were a little bit surprised when we seen this. Usually the rail companies are really good about letting us know when something is going on and involving us when they need to," said Capcara. "They failed to let us know what was going on, but we've reached out to them, found the breakdown and we've corrected it."
According to Canadian Pacific Railway there was no threat to public safety.
"CP immediately implemented its emergency response protocols and mobilized teams to the site," Canadian Pacific Railway said in a statement.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
