In the Morinville-St. Albert district, Dale Nally of the United Conservative Party is making his bid to become the local MLA.
Nally has decades of experience in management with big box companies, such as Loblaws and Home Depot.
"I'm running in this riding because I live here, I volunteer here and I raise my children here," he said. "So, when I say I'm going to fight for the residents in this riding, I'm fighting for the residents, my neighbours, my friends and everybody."
The hockey coach and father from St. Albert is new to politics, but has a masters degree in education.
"We'll be bringing freedom of education back to Alberta," he added. "We're going to implement our legislative priorities, which are jobs, the economy and the pipeline."
Nally was also a co-chair for Diversity Edmonton, which was a volunteer organization that worked with business to promote the hiring of people with disabilities.
Advanced polls opened this week. The provincial election day is set for Tuesday (Apr.16).
