A 25-year-old man will be appearing in court after police clocked him going nearly 100 km/h over the speed limit on Monday (Aug. 22).
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP caught the Edmonton man riding a Ducati Super Bike at 197km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone on Highway 28A. RCMP said the stretch of road is known for its serious collisions.
The man will appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on Sept. 20.
“Speeding continues to be an ongoing issue in our community,” Fort Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release."The City of Fort Saskatchewan is committed to the Vision Zero Initiative, which aims to have zero traffic fatalities or serious injury collisions. Therefore visible and proactive traffic enforcement has and will continue to be a priority for the RCMP and Municipal Enforcement."
Police remind drivers to slow down and obey speed limits– with school just around the corner, both RCMP and local municipal enforcement plan to be out in the community enforcing the Traffic Safety Act.
