After a long wait, town residents got to see their finished project.
On Canada Day, the finished mosaic mural was unveiled at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre.
With nearly 560 tiles, the mural is a large image of the St. Jean Baptiste Church on a railcar, which will eventually be connected with others from across Canada to form one massive mosaic.
"It was a lot of fun," said Lewis Lavoie, head designer of the Morinville Mural Mosaic 150 project. "The kids were really enthusiastic."
The whole town contributed to the project including Morinville Public School, Ecole Notre Dame Elementary, G.H. Primeau School, Morinville Community High School, town residents and professional artists.
"The town came up with the image, they really wanted to showcase their heritage church."
Lavoie also mentioned Phil Alain, another main contributor to the project, has been getting rave reviews through social media for his work.
