RCMP are asking for the public’s help as they investigate an alleged sexual assault of a girl in Sturgeon County.
On Sunday night (Aug. 5) police received a complaint about an incident that happened at the Poundmaker’s Lodge Pow Wow after the Iron Man competition. A girl was walking on a trail behind some large teepees when a man tried to grab her and pull her off the trail.
The man groped the girl and tried to remove her clothing, repeatedly telling her to “just let it happen,” police said. The victim was able to flee after fighting the man off. She then saw him drive away from the grounds in a dented early 2000 model sports car.
The man is described as 6'1" and wearing a baggy black sweater and blue jeans.
Morinville RCMP are asking any possible witnesses or other victims to come forward. Anyone with information can call the detachment at 780-939-4520 or contact Crime Stoppers.
