There‘s some startling numbers for Morinville in a recent crime study.
Maclean's released their most recent statistics for Canada’s Most Dangerous Places to live, with Morinville coming in the top 25 for youth crime.
Morinville had five incidents within their 10,257 population in the last year. The study uses a population size of 100,000, meaning if the numbers continued, it would correspond to 48.75 incidents per 100,000 population.
The national average for Youth Criminal Justice Act offences is 16.71 per 100,000 people.
Morinville councillor Stephen Dafoe said they'll look closer when the Morinville RCMP release their official stats.
"Past councils have always had the opportunity to sit down with the RCMP detachment commander to go over the crime stats for the year. I'm certain that this council will have those discussions in the spring."
In total, Morinville ranked as the 87th most dangerous place to live in Canada.
