Morinville's Justin Hogg is making waves in Nashville and at home.

After years of hard work, his first commercially released single, Smoke Signals, is gaining traction across North America.

"It's kind of nerve wracking putting my first single out because you don't know how people are going to respond to it," said the country artist. "I put a lot of work into it but I was glad people liked it."

He credits his friends and connections he's made on his numerous trips to Tennessee.

"I've learned so much about the industry from Nashville, I've seen how hard you have to work to get where you want to go," he explained. "It's a grind to get anywhere in the music business."

Hogg now Skypes to friends for songwriting sessions and meetings instead of flying there.

He's focusing on the Canadian market for now after several top ten award nominations and wins. Hogg has already been nominated for two Alberta Country Music Association Awards this year, while coming off of multiple wins for songwriting and performance at the North American Country Music Association International.

Smoke Signals is available on iTunes, GooglePlay and Spotify now.
