Morinville is behind the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.
In a letter sent to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Morinville mayor Barry Turner signed in support of moving forward.
"The projects important to not only our town, but our province and nation," said Turner.
The letter was organized by the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) and contained support from 167 communities.
“Should the project go ahead, there's going to be a huge benefit to access to international markets, which is going to mean more jobs in the region,” added Turner.
Provincial and federal governments are still in talks with Kinder Morgan, trying to keep the $7.4 billion pipeline expansion project alive.
The Trans Mountain expansion would triple the oil capacity between Alberta and British Columbia. The British Columbia provincial government remains opposed.
