The town of Morinville will be welcoming four new councillors this term.

Morinville already knew Barry Turner would be taking over the mayors seat, but over half of the council is new.

"I'm excited to work with a new team. Each of them brings a lot of experience with local community groups and organizations," said Turner.

Returnees Stephen Dafoe and Nicole Boutestein will lead the way, while Scott Richardson, Rebecca Balanko, Sarah Hall and Lawrence Giffin are newcomers.

"I'm really looking forward to bringing everyone up to speed in terms of councils process and timing and then hit the ground running," added Turner.

In Morinville 1,449 people voted, which is about 23 per cent of their population.

Council will get started on Tuesday (October 24), with the Swearing in Ceremony at 6:00 p.m.
